It's been awhile....
Ok so I admit, I dropped off the face of the blogging world since last OCTOBER!!! Holy cow I didn't realize it had been that long. A lot has happened in the world of competing and fitness for me. I did end up competing at NPC National in Ft. Lauderdale, FL in November and although I didn't place where I would have liked I did bring a better package than at Team Universe earlier last year. I can't complain about positive progress and meeting my mini goals along the way. I took some time to rest, regroup and an made a...

Failure Is Not Final Unless You Give Up
I could be mistaken, but I’m going to assume that the majority of you fitness fanatics have, at some point in time, come across the following motivational quote, {It takes 4 weeks for you to see your body changing, 8 weeks for your friends & family, & 12 weeks for the rest of the world.} Would you agree or disagree with that statement?!? Personally, I would have to say, I agree. Why, you ask? Well, because, I am currently wrapping up my twelfth week of training and each juncture noted above has reigned true. {Continuous effort – not strength or...

Thankful Thursday
Every Thursday we see people posting pictures from the past and titling it "throwback Thursday". I've done it too and it's really quite great to see the progress I've made and the progress of others. All of our goal are different, but the similar thing is that without people in our lives and the support of others many of us wouldn't be celebrating our success. So today I'd like to title this Thursday, "Thankful Thursday".I've been very fortunate to acquire the support of those around me. When I started my journey into figure competitions I didn't have a lot of...

Here we go again!
The time for vacation and summer have come to an end, and I begin another contest prep. I currently sit just shy of 10 weeks out from the NPC National Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on November 22-23rd. Conveniently the weekend before Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday). What I am enjoying most about this contest prep is that it doesn't feel like a "Prep". It feels natural, normal and I'm still kicking my butt in the gym. That is the one thing that I have noticed the most over the past year is that I haven't had what some feel is an...

Staying on Track While on Vacation
For those of us who compete in any avenue, especially any kind of bodybuilding, we look forward to our vacations. Contest prep can be exhausting and it is nice to get away from our every day life and explore the world outside the gym. BUT, it is so easy to lose sight of our goals and allow the festivities to take over. Back in April I attended my brother in law's wedding in Hawaii and I blogged about how I stayed on track for the 72 hours I was there, and it was very easy. However, I have been fortunate...

Roots Before Branches
At first glance, I’m your typical small (5’2), outgoing, athletic, YOUNG, goofball.. & while those 5 descriptions are very accurate, they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Growing up in a household of 4 children, I was FORCED to be competitive, responsible, self-sufficient, & goal-driven; (Sibling rivalry stories that are sure to have you bent over laughing to come at a later date…) all of which were & continue to be tremendous catalysts in sports, school, extracurricular activities, my fitness goals & my present career. Life is meant to be lived to its fullest potential, right? But how can one...

The Road to the Pro Card
"In this world there is no force equal to the strength of a determined woman." -unknown What a weekend! I am finally feeling resting and recouped after my long weekend in New Jersey for the 2013 Team Universe National Championships. I had a blast! I went with the goal of earning my pro card, and although I did not place where I would have liked, and I did not earn my pro card, I am pleased and very happy with the physique I brought and I placed 9th in my class on the national stage. I'm proud of my...

Win The Day
I am not a Duck fan, and when I say Duck, I am referring to the University of Oregon Ducks. I am an Oregon State Beaver fan through and through. But, I borrow the term Win The Day today as I write this post. I heard that the first time via UofO and as much as I don't like to admit it, I really like the phrase. What does that mean? It has meaning to everyone in a different way. To me, it means do everything you can today to get that much closer to your goal. Don't dwell on...
